laws are reflective of the majority. change the thinking and sentiments of the majority and the laws will change accordingly.

that said, an electorate that is non-participatory surrenders rule of the majority to rule of the minority (or worse, the select and privileged few).

don't get all bent out of shape if laws go one way or another. if the laws of society go against your belief and you can't stand it anymore, move to another society that is more aligned with your morality.

if you can't move to another society (or don't want to), then heed the advice of mahatma gandhi - "be the change you want to see in the world."
