The Powerful Prayer

Before I share with you my perspective on prayers (based on what I have discerned from my own personal experience and relationship with God) and the characteristics that comprise the ones that most effectively capture God's attention, let me state at the onset that the Lord's Prayer (Our Father) is the primary example of a COMPLETE prayer.

Without further adieu, here are the characteristics:

1. passionate - a petition for that which we have strong passions for (perhaps the most important characteristic)

2. loving - a selfless petition for that which brings joy and peace to another is what ultimately brings joy and peace to ourselves

3. faithful - so often Jesus would declare how the faith of the healed is what brought about the healing

4. trusting - not specifying the exact outcome that we would want but leaving it to God to determine the best outcome according to His infinite wisdom for our good and the good of others

5. patient - does not set a timetable for God to answer the prayer; just let your petitions rise up to Him and let go.
